The Impact of Information Technology on Project Management

Antoine Rizk presented on "The Impact of Information Technology on Project Management" at the Gate Academy celebration:

Introduction

The success of any construction project primarily depends on successful management that is compatible with the nature and location of the work, as well as the employees. Therefore, it is necessary to coordinate and efficiently utilize all material and human resources in an economical manner, while also maintaining the company or organization in a dynamic balance with internal and external variables by anticipating environmental factors that may have a clear impact on the future of the institution and studying how to deal with them.

Information technology and communication have been able to record massive amounts of information on small and easily tradable media. These technologies and their applications have become key factors for growth, pushing civilization forward quickly and eliminating barriers of time and distance. Information technology and communication have become one of the most important competitive advantages that economic institutions seek, especially in light of recent developments in this field.

Information systems contribute to keeping projects within a specific scope by ensuring precise control over the information upon which the project relies. Control can be enhanced through the automatic flow of data and information and the electronic execution of procedures correctly.

Research Problem

Since technology is a combination of science and art, we must understand the nature of the technology we work with in order to deal with it properly. With the accelerated pace of the era we live in and the emergence of technology, ease of access to information, and the speed of work to keep up with developments, there is an urgent need for continuous monitoring of technology development and how to benefit from it and guide it to benefit the development of institutions and the success of projects.

Hence, the main question of the study is: "What is the impact of information technology on project management?"

Several subsidiary questions stem from this main question, including:

1. What is meant by information technology and communication?

2. What are the stages of technology evolution?

3. What are the components of information technology?

4. What are the forms of obtaining technology by the institution?

5. What is meant by the project?

6. What are the stages that projects go through?

7. What is meant by project management?

Significance of the Study

Scientific Importance:

This study can be considered a source for researchers and students who want to learn more about the impact of information systems on project management. This study may serve as a starting point for researchers and interested parties to conduct further research in this field.

Practical Importance:

The study may lead to results that can contribute to providing recommendations and suggestions for officials in companies regarding project management to facilitate their work and make it more accurate.

Study Objectives

The study aims to determine the impact of information technology on project management by achieving several subsidiary objectives, including:

. Defining information technology.

. Understanding the components of information technology.

. Identifying the stages of technology evolution.

. Understanding the forms of obtaining technology by the institution.

. Defining the project.
